Welcome to the "Tracks in Time" Web Page

We hope this resource will help explain some of the important concepts relating to multi-media presentations on CD-ROM and the Internet. The two most important things to understand about audio/video (AV) files and the Internet are:

1. AV file sizes are very large, and
2. The Internet connection determines download speeds.

Internet users will have either a dialup modem or some other type of connection that typically offers higher connection speeds. Most office users will have a high speed connection, while most home users have a dialup modem.

Adoption of high speed cable, DSL, ISDN, and satellite is rapidly making high speed or "Broadband" service available to home, home-office and small business users.

Your computer must have one of these applications properly installed to play the streaming media files available below.

Download Free RealPlayer
The streaming media on this site utilizes RealMedia. Get RealPlayer 8 or later to access these presentations. Download Free RealPlayer 8 Basic.

Download Windows Media Player
Some of the streaming media on this site is also available in Windows Media format. Download the Free Windows Media Player Version 7.1 or higher.
